Introduction[]
Holly Chang is the single surviving victim of Uram—a Bloodborn-crazed archangel who went on a macabre killing spree.[1] The concern is that Uram may have infected her.[2]
Biography / History / Backstory[]
✥ No one is certain what she is — she needs blood, but not as much as a vampire, and she does need to eat food. She may be the result of an aborted attempt at conversion. The healers and doctors think she may simply be one of those who are easily Made — but now that she's only partially transformed, trying to complete the conversion may kill her.[3]
✥ Later she changes her name to Sorrow, but changes it back to Holly as it made her family sad.

1. Angels' Blood[]
She was found hiding in a guard shack away from the building that held rest of the bodies by Elena Deveraux and Raphael when they followed her blood trail. Elena finds her naked accept for blood, her arms gripping her raised knees as she rocked.[4] When she saw a glimpse of Illium's wings, she started whimpering, locking her muscles tight. Elena insists that one of the vampires help—no one with wings. Raphael sends for Dmitri. She fears the woman will be killed. Raphael says that she will need to be tested. The concern is that she may be infected—she will be killed if she is.[5] Dmitri has her taken to their healers. She might be infected with Uram's madness—his brand is catching—she ingested some of Uram's blood, most likely by forcing her to feed from him. Elena tells Raphael the story to demonstrate that she understands that if Holly Chang becomes a monster, she needs to die.[2] Dmitri reports: She doesn't carry the mutant variant of the toxin, but she does carry something. She's not contagious-and they need to discover the truth of whatever it is Uram did to her. She's under 24-hour watch.[3]

Elena recalled the time she'd seen Holly Chang—she had turned hysterical at the sight of wings after being forced to witness Uram's atrocities.[6]

Holly is visited by Dmitri in her new home, where it is shown that she drank her own blood instead of using the one stocked in her fridge. She acts aggressively, but is in fact shaken after her boyfriend left her, since he couldn't bear her habit of watching him, at night with gleaming eyes. It's implied Holly was staring at his neck. After a brief conversation Holly changes her name to Sorrow, after Dmitri orders her to choose a name other than Uram - her first pick.
She later slips security and goes to a club - the Blood Den, where she uses her ability to briefly mesmerise people. After Dmitri slaps the man and orders him to leave, he drives Sorrow back home. They have another short conversation when Sorrow states she's afraid of the change she undergoes and asks the older vampire to teach her how to act. He refuses, assigning Venom as her tutor in those matters.
Having once more slipped her watchers to have a peaceful walk in the park she kills a man in amock. Sorrow calls Dmitri, terrified at his remark that an Angel - Illium - will arrive at the scene shortly, with the vampire close behind. Meeting him and Honor Sorrow asks him to end her life, as she's become a monster, but Honor stops her and shows a police remark that proves the girl's victim was a rapist on parole.
After returning home with Honor, Sorrow clashes with Venom, throwing a cup with hot coffee at him. After the argument (and shooting Venom in the thigh) Honor offers to teach Sorrow how to defend herself.

Holly experiences episodes where Uram's taint appears to be growing stronger, sometimes appearing as acid green jagged wings emerging from her chest. She and Venom follow her urge to travel to Michaela's stronghold while the archangel of Budapest is touring China with the rest of the cadre. There, they find that Michaela had birthed a lump of corrupted flesh that retained some of Uram's power.
